February 2016 Favorites & Updates

Books: No book updates this month. I havenโ€™t yet finished the book I started at the end of January as itโ€™s been a slow month for reading for me. I am more than halfway done so hopefully it will be finished for next monthโ€™s update.

Shows: Outside of Teen Mom I havenโ€™t been watching any shows that are currently on new seasons. Iโ€™ve been really slow with watching Teen Mom because for the first half of February my ankle was swollen (more on that below) and then I got sick *again*. Iโ€™ve been feeling better for the past week or so but havenโ€™t gotten back into the routine of exercising so I havenโ€™t caught up on the show yet.

Clothes or accessories: I didnโ€™t buy or review any new clothing this month. Iโ€™ve been loving my dailyshoes boots still that I mentioned from last months update.

Dog items: I sold a lot of random odds and ends this month in a local facebook buy/sell group. It was mostly clothing that Ryan doesnโ€™t fit anymore since he lost weight, but also included some review items that I got and didnโ€™t end up using much. My pugs have always been really picky about toys so we often get toys in dog subscription boxes or for review that they donโ€™t end up using. I was laying out a group of dog toys to list for sale that included a pound puppy dog toy that we got from petco months back. When I was taking the photo Frank came up and ran away with it! So I didnโ€™t list it for sale and theyโ€™ve both been playing with it off and on this month. Itโ€™s already coming apart at one seam so it probably wonโ€™t be around for long but itโ€™s always cute to see the dogs take to a new toy.

Food/recipe. I tried a new sandwich in part so that I could do a Brownberry bread review. I stepped outside of my normal food box by frying an egg for the sandwich. It was unique for me but I really liked it. That was just yesterday but I plan to re-do more now.

Video games: No new video games this month. Ryan & I have still been playing Donโ€™t Starve Together and we recently started competing ย instead of collaborating which has been a fun way of changing things up.

February accomplishments: I mentioned that I started selling items in facebook groups in January. I wound up making $140 from facebook groups. Then I listed about 10 items on ebay and pulled in about $120 that way (not including shipping). I did a poor job of estimating shipping so that hurt how much I made. I had a few items that were $6-$10 off on shipping price. Lesson learned: do NOT use the โ€˜ebay recommendsโ€™ price option. I realized after the auctions ended that I can use my kitchen scale to weight items so I donโ€™t need to estimate shipping expenses at all. Oh well, live and learn!

Weight: Ryan has lost another 2 pounds this month, and I lost an additional pound. I had the swollen ankle for a couple weeks, adn then we were sick for about a week. Weโ€™ve been fine for the past week or so but have just been busy it seems like. We need to get back to exercising regularly to start losing quicker again.

Life Updates:

I apparently sprained my ankle at the end of last month. I thought it was just sore from doing 45 minutes of Skip-Fit as cardio because it just became sore after a workout. During the workout I never had a big OUCH or obvious injury happen so I didnโ€™t think much of it until the soreness didnโ€™t go away even after 4-5 days. The pain was moderate but never severe or sharp so I thought there was no way anything was broken. I was able to bear weight on my foot/ankle but bending my ankle to step was painful. I waited until it had been about 2 weeks which was when I realized it had to be more than soreness so I went in to see my doctor. They had me get an x-ray ย and it came back normal. They said to wrap it in an ace bandage and see if that would help the swelling and if not they would send me to a specialist. I wrapped it and within 2-3 days the swelling was gone and so was the pain. I had no idea that a sprained ankle would persist for almost 3 weeks like that until wrapped! But, I was so glad it just needed wrapped and then I was fine and could avoid a specialist.

We bought a used dryer that worked for about 3 days and then quit. So we returned it and bought a new one online from best buy for store pickup. We went to pick it up today but the forklift for the warehouse was broken so they couldnโ€™t get it down for us. We had to drive about 30 minutes to get there so we were disappointed but thought we had no choice but to come back. We asked if we could get an extension on our pick-up time (we were told the deadline for pickup was tomorrow) because we have a snowstorm coming. The store said they could just offer us free delivery for the trouble so we wouldnโ€™t have to come back. I was shocked because we had price-checked the delivery service and ti was over $100 seems how we live so far from the store. It was a really nice thing for them to offer and it will be so convenient to have it delivered to our door.

Blogging & self employment updates:

Iโ€™ve been focusing on accepting less reviews for my blog and for amazon. I want to focus more on this blog and I canโ€™t do that when I stay too busy with reviews.

I started posting a daily question on my Emily Reviews facebook page and have had success with getting more interaction which helps visibility on my facebook posts. I am happy with that adn itโ€™s fun to engage more with my followers. I would like to find the time to do more personal updates on my frank loves beans facebook page as well.
