Can Pugs Cope With Hot Weather In The Summer?

Last summer we went to the Grand Canyon the last week of June. It was something like 118 degrees! With us being native to Michigan, we had never experienced weather over about 105 or so before, and we were surprised that 118 didnโ€™t feel even worse. The whole โ€œDry airโ€ thing definitely makes a difference but make no mistake โ€“ 100+ degrees is hot no matter how humid it is!

Empty The Shelters Free Pet Adoption Days

In Michigan a few times a year I start seeing my friends sharing Facebook posts by various local shelters, talking about empty the shelter days. They are days where all the pets that are in a shelter can be adopted free of charge. The charge is covered by some group or company, and the goal is to have the shelter completely empty by the end of the event.

Iโ€™ve watched a few of these events where they were successful and โ€ฆ Read the rest

Why Pugs Make Good Apartment Pets

Iโ€™ve heard people recommend waiting to get a dog until you have purchased a house. I understand that sentiment. I have had a harder time finding places to rent because I have pets. In my area, roughly 3/4 of apartments listed say no pets. However, I also expect to be close to 30 before I have the ability to purchase a house and I live in an area with an affordable housing market! For younger adults living in more expensive โ€ฆ Read the rest

Do Pugs Stink All The Time?

One of the questions that I get asked frequently as a pug owner is โ€“ โ€œDo pugs stink all the time?โ€ or โ€œDoes your pug stink? I heard pugs stink.โ€

Iโ€™m not really sure where this idea comes from but Iโ€™ve been asked that by at least half a dozen people in the past couple of years which seems unusually high. I donโ€™t know why that idea gets passed around but I thought โ€ฆ Read the rest

Adopting Two Dogs โ€“ What Surprised Me

I read a lot of information about getting a dog before I brought home my two pugs. I had expected to get a puppy, though. A lot of what I had read focused on getting a puppy, instead of adopting adult dogs. I read so many posts that warned about things like a โ€œhoneymoon periodโ€ that fades after a few days, and then a much more difficult period with problematic behavior. I had read about how some dogs donโ€™t bond โ€ฆ Read the rest

How We Decided Against Bringing Home A New Puppy

Our labor day weekend was a busy one. I made a really klutzy mistake while trying to pick up a car jack and wound up splitting open my chin and getting 3 stitches. The next morning we woke up to our neighbors knocking on the door. They explained that they decided to rehome their 3-month-old pug puppy. They wanted to know if we were interested in having her because we had gushed over their puppy the day they brought it โ€ฆ Read the rest

My Pugs Favorite Toys

There are affiliate links in this post. I was sent some of these dog toys for review in the past on my other blog, Emily Reviews. However, I was not asked to include them in this post. In fact, the brands have no idea I am posting about these toys for this post. These are just my pugs favorite toys toys and a couple of them happened to be sent to us for review back in the day.

Is A Pug Right For Me?

Disclaimer: there is an affiliate link in this post.

Pugs are a breed of dog that almost everyone can immediately picture in their minds. Their smushed faces and big eyes make an impression in your mind and make them pretty easy to remember. If youโ€™re considering getting a pug, itโ€™s a good idea to read up on common pug behaviors as well as their health care and emotional needs to make sure that the typical pug would be a good โ€ฆ Read the rest
